The history of DJ Property DJ represents the initials of the late David Jones. David began constructing industrial and agricultural buildings in the early 1960’s. His business was one of the first to be located on the Granby Industrial Estate in Weymouth and was responsible for the construction of many of the commercial properties on what has become Weymouth’s principal business site. In 1976, David moved on from construction, and became increasingly focussed on the ownership and letting of commercial properties. Instead of engaging third parties to manage and let his property investments, David chose to own, let and manage his properties himself. This direct approach permitted greater flexibility and the ability to apply his enthusiasm and business experience to stimulate demand for leasehold properties in the area. The business was re-branded as DJ Property in late 2003 when David passed the management of the business to Mickey Jones, one of his three sons. Mickey’s background is primarily in finance, having held positions with PricewaterhouseCoopers and Grant Thornton, where he specialised in corporate finance. Prior to joining DJ Property, Mickey served as Chief Financial Officer of elata, a developer of mobile software solutions for the global wireless market. elata enjoyed rapid growth and success, and was subsequently sold to Nasdaq listed QUALCOMM for $57m. |
